365:14 Robin (Erithacus rubecula)

Following my hospital appointment, which went fine, we decided to have a trip to Potteric Carr to see what was about. It turned out to be not much, as most of the water was frozen over. The Robin above appeared by the path as we were heading back to the car and allowed me to take a few images. We had just been in the Piper Marsh hide where we had quite a distant view of a Bittern. As we were leaving the hide someone spotted a Fox running across the ice, which appeared to be limping as it ran. It was heading in the direction of the Bittern and we were hoping it might flush it a bit nearer, but no such luck.

At the feeding station at Willow Pool hide there were quite a number of birds coming in. We spotted a Jay, Great Spotted Woodpecker, many Reed Buntings, Moorhens, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Willow Tit, and a Water Rail performed nicely in front of the hide.

The roads seem OK so I think I will be off to the camera club later. I just hope it doesn’t freeze over while I’m there.
